Every single morning,

to an alarm, I wake in bed,

A cup on my side table 

to welcome the day ahead.

The boiling of the kettle... 

A familiar sound, I grin. 

My eyes still shut, feeling joy,

 your side empty as I lie in.

Milk and caramel syrup, 

you know me oh so well!

My coffee order remembered,

the further in love we fell.

The aroma fills the room 

with a kiss to start the day, 

My favourite drink, next to me, 

to help me on my way.

The warmth between my hands; 

a mini hug from you,

Bringing love into my day 

with the little things you do. 

My mug is never empty; 

you always fill my cup.

Starting every day just right!

A habit we won’t give up. 

Coffee will always be there, 

for good days and the bad,

I love knowing no matter what…

a hot drink will be had. 

One of our home comforts, 

just you, me, and our drink.

Those first moments each morning

 we don’t have to overthink.

We focus on the flavour, 

a quiet time just for us. 

Talk or silence, whatever you need, 

there’s never any rush.  

Before clocking in at work 

or commuting for your day, 

It's fuel for an adventure together 

or going our separate ways.

I’ll never take for granted,

our morning rendezvous. 

A simple moment, no one else, 

to always look forward to.

Yes, there’ll always be coffee.

As we grow older, the years go by 

But we will always sit

with our morning drink,

made lovingly by you, for I.

I wrote this poem for couples who love having a coffee together in the morning, enjoying the small moments together and appreciating the everyday gestures our partner does for us, which makes us feel loved. My husband always makes me a coffee in bed, so this one is also for Tom!
