Back in August 2023, I had the pleasure of writing and officiating the wedding ceremony of Rowen and Liam in the beautiful ceremony barn at Hornington Manor, York.
After meeting at univerisity (and Liam's persistance asking for dates over facebook), Rowen finally agreed to go for a meal Liam...and the rest is history!
Here's the story of their wedding celebrant ceremony, filled with symbolism & family.
The barn itself was decorated with trees and florals by Limelight Wedding Emporium, stationery by The Ink and Foil Studio, as well as some of the brides DIY decor. Very much whimsical and rustic vibes.
We started the ceremony with a group cheer to get the guests excited for the day and to let Rowen know everyone was ready for her grand entrance. Then, the moment had arrived, Rowen walked down the aisle to Tenerife Sea, sang by the amazing 24Live! (Andrew).

The pair took a moment during their ceremony to thank their mother-in-laws for welcoming them into their family with a rose ceremony, which led to a bespoke poem, detailing their story, written from a 'siblings perserpective'. This was read by the brides brother & sister and certainly got a few laughs! This couple wanted as many family members involved as possible!

After speaking about their story and thoughts on marriage, they also had Liam's Dad recite a Harry Potter inspired reading, which was fitting, as the couple are huge HP fans!
They wished to add a symbolic element to their ceremony and it seemed only right, after this reading, to include a unity candle ceremony to symbolise their lives becoming one in marriage. We had bridesmaid, April, as their designated 'fire starter' and beautiful, handmade candles from AgaMakesCandles (etsy).
As the candle burned, the couple read their lovely, handwritten vows to each other and exchanged rings.
What followed was CELEBRATION! As we introduced them, for the first time, as MR AND MRS SWALES and proceded to sign their decorative ceremony certificate with their MOH and Best Man, followed by their exit as husband and wife, confetti, garden games and Pimms on the lawn!
I was there for the rest of the day as Rowen is my Sister-in-law and I can't wait to share more about their amazing suppliers!
