Introducing Meg!

I’m a smiley, fun, and vibrant wedding celebrant (my client’s words, not mine!) from the North East. I am from Barnard Castle, County Durham, and currently live in Darlington with my husband, Tom. I am a friendly, northern lass but also enjoy travelling around and meeting new people.

In my spare time I like to listen to music; I have a varied taste and love most, including northern soul, folk, and cheesy pop!
You’ll probably catch me trying not to dance before your wedding ceremony if you have good music playing.

You’ll often find me with a cocktail or G&T in hand (or any drink really!). I love going to see musicals with my family and baking cakes for their birthdays.

When I can, I try to meet my husband while he’s on tour. The fantastic thing about working for yourself is that you can work from anywhere! I just need my laptop, a notepad, and a pen to make me happy.

My main passion is writing, and it's my goal in life to write a novel one day—but for now, I write poetry, which you can read here.

There’s a little snippet about me! I can’t wait to learn about you….

My Story
How did I become a celebrant?
I was working as a speech therapy assistant when I first discovered this celebrant career.

During this time my best friends, Amy & Michael, were attempting to plan their wedding.
I’d been with them to look at venues the year before; we had a blast looking around, attending wedding fairs, and joking that I was their wedding planner. The date was now set, and suppliers booked, but COVID had other plans.

One evening I was messaging Amy back and forth, helping her decide whether to postpone or to go ahead with limited guests at her wedding. She explained that the restricted numbers included the 2 registrars. The next text would change my career forever….

“You should just officiate the ceremony.”
And the rest is history…

What an honour it is to be trusted with such a special moment in their lives. I wrote their personalised script, detailing their story, handmade their ceremony elements and stationery, and wrote a personalised poem for one of their ceremony readings.
It was official, I’d caught the celebrant bug.

I completed my course with UKSOC and left my job in April 2022; since then, I’ve written and officiated ceremonies and personalised poems for other couples, and I just love it!
That’s the short version of my story - now I want to know yours!!
