It was a beautiful, sunny day in August when Alicia and Lewis tied the knot. Their wedding setting was The Pumping House, a contemporary venue with gorgeous features. Their ceremony was in the Ollerton Room filled with natural light and lovely views.
With bride, Alicia, being a photographer herself, it was obvious the ceremony would be unplugged. We started with this as a humorous request by pointing out that there were MANY photographers present in the room that day, who will judge those who dared to get their phone out for a quick selfie. Keeping the tone upbeat of course!!
It was then time for bride, her dad, bridesmaids and flower girls to walk down the aisle.
The ceremony began with a surprise for Mum, who was asked to stand beside Alicia's Dad to officially 'give' Alicia away to be married to Lewis. A very special moment between bride and parents, as well as for Lewis to be officially welcomed into the family.

The readings were chosen by the couple and reflected their thoughts on marriage and their story:
The first was read by Alicia's nephew who did an amazing job reciting 'The giraffe and the monkey' by Daniel Thompson.
The second was a bespoke poem, written/read by me, which reminded their guest of their love story, including adventures, their meet-cute and their dreams for the future!
Looking for a way to include your guests in your wedding ceremony? Mr & Mrs Sloan had members of each family & some friends write notes to them prior to their big day, each of these people were asked to come forward during the ceremony and place their note in the time capsule. The bride and groom also wrote notes to each other and sealed them in the box too.
On their 10th anniversary, they'll open the box, reminisce about their day and read the letters. A perfect gift to their future selves, the written word.
The personal touches continued with beautiful handwritten vows, followed by their ring exchange and a parchment signing with two close friends.
BUT we couldn't forget about their VIP (very important puppy) Leo! The couple's fur baby, who joined in celebrations at the end of the ceremony, proudly taking in all of the fuss from his newly married parents before they walked back up the aisle to 'I'm On Top of the World' by Imagine Dragons.
Mr & Mrs Sloan's wedding ceremony was a classic example of picking and choosing the traditions you like and adding new, modern twists. A real pleasure to write/officiate!
Afterwards, their guests were invited to join them on the grounds of the venue, where they took many photos, played garden games, had fun on the bouncy castle and enjoyed the Live singer, Chloe Boulton, adding to the atmosphere with her music. A truly lovely day for a truly lovely couple.
